About Us

Maison Serendipity brings the beauty of Japanese craftsmanship into contemporary life. Based in The Hague, the Netherlands, we curate pieces shaped by centuries of tradition and the hands of skilled artisans.

At the heart of our philosophy is ichigo ichie — the Japanese idea of treasuring each encounter as something that happens only once. We believe that finding something truly special can be just such an encounter: unexpected, personal, and never quite repeatable.

Our Story

Born and raised within easy reach of Kyoto and Nara — places where centuries of history and tradition coexist with modern life, I grew up surrounded by this unique blend of old and new.

After graduating from high school, my journey took me beyond Japan, acrross the United Sates, France, and the Netherlands. In fact, living abroad made me rediscover the beauty of Japanese craftsmanship.

In a world increasingly shaped by technology and uniformity, there is something special about what is made by hand using techniques passed down through generations. No two pieces are ever exactly alike.

A moment of serendipity — and ichigo ichie, the Japanese idea of treasuring each encounter as something that happens only once.

It is in these encounters that Maison Serendipity comes to life — where the story of Japanese craftsmanship meets yours, and a new one begins.

Our Mission

Our mission is to bring the beauty and stories of Japanese craftsmanship beyond Japan, while honoring the artisans, traditions and techniques behind each piece.

We seek to create meaningful encounters between Japanese craftsmanship and contemporary life — allowing traditions passed down through generations to become part of new stories, in new places.
